Understand Quickening
Useful when…
- Increase melee attack speed while also gaining combo count chance.
- Use its Madurai polarity in a standard melee slot if it fits the build.
Effects and fit
Quickening grants +10% attack speed and +5% combo count chance at rank 0, +30% and +15% at rank 2, and +40% and +20% at rank 3. It is a standard Melee mod with Madurai polarity and 6 base drain.
Ranking tradeoff
It has three ranks, with listed fusion steps costing 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits, then 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits, then 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. Each rank raises both listed bonuses; consider the final investment against its 6 base drain and other standard-slot choices.
Different combo-focused options
Enduring Strike grants additional combo count chance specifically on Lifted enemies. Guardian Derision grants combo count chance while blocking and taunts nearby enemies to target you instead of allies. True Punishment grants additional combo count chance but reduces combo duration. These conditional or tradeoff effects differ from Quickening’s listed attack-speed bonus.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Consumes 6 base drain in a standard melee slot.
- Other combo chance options depend on being Lifted, blocking, or accepting reduced combo duration.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Reading combo count chance as a guaranteed increase on every hit.
- Overlooking that the related combo mods have specific conditions or a combo-duration penalty.
