Understand Surging Dash
Useful when…
- Build Melee Counter by hitting enemies with Slash Dash.
- Use the augment when the extra counter fits a melee-focused Excalibur setup.
Effect and scaling
Each enemy hit during Slash Dash adds Melee Counter: +2 at rank 0, +6 at rank 2, and +8 at rank 3. This is the augment's stated effect; it does not specify a direct increase to melee damage.
Fit and fusion
Surging Dash is a standard Excalibur mod with Zenurik polarity, maximum rank 3, and base drain 6. Its listed fusion steps cost 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits from rank 0→1, 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits from 1→2, and 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits from 2→3. It is explicitly incompatible with Purging Slash.
Different augment purposes
Purging Slash is a Conclave augment that removes four debuffs from allies in Slash Dash's path and restores 70% Shields. Chromatic Blade modifies Exalted Blade's damage type according to Excalibur's Emissive Color and increases Status Chance; Furious Javelin grants Melee Damage after enemies are hit by Radial Javelin. These are separate ability effects, not substitutes that reproduce Surging Dash's counter gain.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The augment depends on Slash Dash hitting enemies to add counter.
- It competes for a standard mod slot and cannot be used with Purging Slash.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Describing the added Melee Counter as direct melee damage.
- Assuming hits that do not connect with an enemy add the listed per-enemy counter.
