Understand Synth Fiber
Useful when…
- Add temporary Companion armor when Health Orbs are being collected during a mission.
- Pair conceptually with ways of producing or benefiting from Health Orbs, while keeping in mind the trigger still requires an Orb.
Effect and trigger
Health Orbs increase Armor for Companions. At rank 0, the bonus is 25% for 3 seconds; at rank 2, it is 75% for 9 seconds; at rank 3, it is 100% for 12 seconds. The bonus is temporary and is triggered by Health Orbs.
Slot and investment
Synth Fiber is a Rare, standard Companion mod with Madurai polarity, base drain 4, and maximum rank 3. The listed rank 2 to 3 step costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. Ranking increases both the armor bonus and its duration; consider whether the extra duration and bonus justify that investment for your build. No incompatible mod names are listed.
Related ways to support Companion survival
Link Fiber increases maximum Armor by an amount tied to the Warframe’s Armor, while Link Vitality increases Companion Health based on the Warframe’s maximum Health. Restorative Bond has a different Health Orb interaction: it restores additional health and reduces Companion Recovery Time. These address distinct defensive or recovery effects; they do not share Synth Fiber’s temporary armor-on-Orb trigger.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The armor bonus lasts only 3 to 12 seconds depending on rank and requires a Health Orb trigger.
- The mod uses a Companion slot and capacity; additional rank costs Endo and Credits.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the armor bonus as permanent or active without a Health Orb trigger.
- Confusing temporary armor from Synth Fiber with Link Fiber’s maximum Armor increase.
