Understand Vile Acceleration
Useful when…
- Increasing Fire Rate on a compatible Rifle while accounting for the Damage penalty.
- Using the doubled Fire Rate bonus on a Bow.
- Considering its Naramon polarity and 4 base drain when fitting a standard Rifle mod slot.
Effect by rank
At rank 0, Vile Acceleration gives +15% Fire Rate and -2.5% Damage; at rank 3, +60% Fire Rate and -10% Damage; and at rank 5, +90% Fire Rate and -15% Damage. The Fire Rate value is doubled for Bows. The Damage penalty is not stated as doubled. These are mod bonuses, not final weapon damage.
Mod slot and rank
Vile Acceleration is a Rare standard Rifle mod with Naramon polarity, 4 base drain, and a maximum rank of 5. The example cost to advance from rank 4 to 5 is 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits.
How its tradeoff compares
Critical Delay adds critical chance while reducing Fire Rate. Flawed Speed Trigger gives +20% Fire Rate with no Damage penalty listed in its description. Primed Shred gives +55% Fire Rate and +2.2 Punch Through. Their effects differ, so compare the benefits and costs relevant to your build before choosing among them.
Listed drop source
The drop listing names Derelict Vault and gives a 4.17% chance for Vile Acceleration.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Fire Rate increases as the mod ranks up, along with the Damage penalty.
- It occupies a standard Rifle mod slot and has 4 base drain.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the Bow multiplier also doubles the Damage penalty; only the Fire Rate value is explicitly doubled.
- Ignoring the Damage penalty when ranking the mod.
