Understand Volatile Quick Return
Useful when…
- Install on compatible thrown melee equipment for bounce-triggered blasts.
- Use it when fewer bounces and the stated blast-radius bonus suit your throwing pattern.
Effect and condition
At rank 0, Volatile Quick Return reduces bounces by 1, adds 0.8 Blast Radius, and gives a 25% chance to explode on bounce. At rank 2, those values are −3 bounces, +2.3 Blast Radius, and 75%; rank 3 gives −4 bounces, +3 Blast Radius, and a 100% chance. The explosion effect disables Punch Through.
Slot, polarity, and ranking
This standard Thrown Melee mod has Naramon polarity, base drain 2, and maximum rank 3. The listed rank steps cost 20, 40, and 80 Endo, plus 966, 1,932, and 3,864 Credits. Max rank guarantees the bounce explosion and provides the full listed radius and bounce reduction; lower ranks cost less but have a chance-based explosion.
Compare bounce choices
Quick Return reduces bounces by 4 without the listed explosion or Blast Radius effects. Rebound adds 4 bounces. Volatile Rebound grants a 100% bounce-explosion chance at max rank but lists no bounce reduction or blast-radius increase. These are alternatives: the mod is explicitly incompatible with Quick Return, Volatile Rebound, and Rebound.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Bounce-triggered explosions disable Punch Through.
- The explosion chance is below 100% until max rank.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equipping it with one of the explicitly incompatible bounce mods.
- Overlooking that the explosion effect disables Punch Through.
