Understand Volatile Rebound
Useful when…
- Equip on a compatible thrown melee weapon to trigger explosions on bounce.
- Choose it when a bounce explosion matters more than retaining Punch Through.
Effect and condition
Volatile Rebound’s explosion chance rises from 25% at rank 0 to 75% at rank 2 and 100% at rank 3. The effect occurs on bounce and disables Punch Through. The supplied effect lists no change to bounce count or Blast Radius.
Rank cost and fit
This standard Thrown Melee mod has Naramon polarity, base drain 10, and maximum rank 3. The three listed rank steps cost 30, 60, and 120 Endo, plus 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796 Credits. Higher ranks improve the chance; max rank is the point at which the listed chance reaches 100%.
Alternative bounce behavior
Volatile Quick Return also reaches a 100% explosion chance at rank 3 and adds Blast Radius while reducing bounces, but has base drain 2 rather than 10. Quick Return reduces bounces without the listed explosion, while Rebound adds bounces. Volatile Rebound is incompatible with all three. These comparisons describe different bounce behavior and do not establish one as universally preferable.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Base drain is 10, compared with 2 for Volatile Quick Return.
- The explosion effect disables Punch Through.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming it adds Blast Radius or changes bounce count; those effects are not listed for this mod.
- Forgetting that the bounce explosion disables Punch Through.
